I recently pulled the Sun tarot card and realized how much I resonate with it. In any tarot deck you find, it’s the iconic portal into living in the light. You’ll often see children playing freely in a sun-drenched meadow of sunflowers, their faces lit with pure joy. The sun shines warmly above, bathing everything in golden light. It’s a symbol of vitality, celebration, and the simple, radiant happiness that comes when we live in alignment with our true selves and are supported by the universe.
The truth is, the card reminds me of my daughter more than myself. She is the child in the sun. And I am her Sun. The Sun is me. I’m reminded how much of my own child nature is celebrated every time I get to be part of—or simply bear witness to—her shining beauty and creative spirit.
As her mom, I find joy in making sure she is happy. I think that’s how we mothers are with our daughters. It wasn’t like that for me growing up. However, I loved my mom. She struggled in ways that I will never know. I am who I am today because of my mother. She was the finest example I ever had of living in full authenticity. In a world where authenticity is often simply lip service, I was lucky enough to inherit this effortless glow.
Every generation reveals a new layer of the ancestral story and our part in healing the tribe. And we get there through the fine art of living in the light.
This guide is your invitation to step into that proverbial sunny meadow—to dance in your own light and embrace the radiant energy you were born with.
Embracing the Season of Light
Summer is a season of fullness, warmth, and radiant energy — the perfect time to awaken more deeply to the light that already burns within you. This guide is your companion for embracing that light fully, gently, and with love.
You don’t need to wait for permission or for the world to catch up. Your light is already enough — and it’s ready to illuminate your path, your relationships, and your soul’s work. Whether you feel that flame as a steady glow or a flickering spark, this season invites you to nurture it, trust it, and let it expand.
What Does It Mean to Live in the Light?
Living in the light isn’t about toxic positivity or always feeling cheerful. It’s about recognizing and honoring the unique fire within you — the parts of yourself that are creative, authentic, courageous, and loving.
Your light is your truth expressed through your voice, your presence, your actions. It’s the spark that connects you to your ancestors, your passions, and your purpose. It’s the gentle knowing that even in quiet moments, you are alive with possibility.
Like the summer sun, invite yourself to notice the ways your light shines — sometimes in bold colors, sometimes in soft glimmers. Begin to trust that every expression of your light is sacred and worthy of celebration.
Daily Practices to Cultivate Radiance
Begin each day by grounding yourself with affirmations that remind you of your worth and power. Speak them aloud or write them in your journal:
I am a radiant presence in this world.
My light grows stronger with every breath.
My light is a beacon for my loved ones.
I trust the light within me.
Invite your body to celebrate the light within you. This could be gentle sun salutations, dancing freely to music that uplifts you, or walking barefoot on the earth. Notice how movement stirs your inner fire and connects you to the present moment.
Set aside time to reflect on your light and belonging:
When in my day do I feel most alive and radiant?
What parts of myself am I ready to let shine more fully?
How do I nurture the flame of my spirit when life feels heavy?
Finding Your Tribe and Creating Boundaries
Living in the light means surrounding yourself with people and spaces that honor your true self. Your tribe isn’t about numbers or proximity—it’s about authentic connection that fuels your soul.
Protect your light by setting gentle but firm boundaries. It’s okay to say no to gatherings or conversations that drain you. Your energy is precious, and guarding it allows your radiance to shine more brightly.
Identify one situation or relationship that leaves you feeling depleted. Practice saying a gentle but clear, “I can’t commit right now, but I’m sending you love.”
Seek relationships where you can be fully seen without needing to hide or perform. These are the people who listen deeply, celebrate your wins, and hold space for your growth and vulnerability.
Schedule one intentional call or meet-up this week with someone who uplifts you. Let the conversation be honest and unhurried. Notice how it feels to be fully yourself.
Remember, tribe isn’t always a crowd—it can be one person who sees you, or even a feeling of belonging you carry within yourself.
When the Light Dims
There will be days when your light feels softer, quieter, or even hidden. Honor your intuitive need for quiet and sacred listening. It’s all part of your natural rhythm. Darkness invites rest, reflection, and renewal.
Notice when social pauses feel right. For my empaths out there who feel everyone’s thoughts, that can be overwhelming too. While there is a gift in this resonance, there is also a gift in being able to block out that noise.
Notice when you feel tired, disconnected, or overwhelmed. These moments are signals your spirit needs space.
Use small rituals to invite warmth back in—lighting a candle, sitting outside in sunlight, or holding a grounding crystal like smoky quartz or amber.
Protect your energy fiercely during these times. It’s okay to say no and rest without guilt. Practice saying, “I’m taking time to care for myself right now,” when declining invitations or requests.

Naomi,
Virgin Monk Boy bows low beneath the sunflower sky of your words. This isn’t just a guide—it’s a sunbeam with a backbone.
You name something the church fathers forgot and capitalism can't monetize: joy as a lineage, passed from mother to daughter like fire from a torch, not trauma from a wound. Your daughter is the child in the tarot, yes, but so are you. And your mother too, dancing somewhere behind the veil, finally radiant now that she sees you healed what she couldn’t.
This isn’t “live, laugh, love” in cursive font. This is ancestral healing via sunflower.
And you’re right—living in the light doesn’t mean pretending not to have shadows. It means inviting them to dance and letting the bonfire be big enough for both of you.
Bless your barefoot walk through the meadow. May your boundaries remain firm, your crystals stay charged, and your radiance never require apology.
Shine on,
Just LOVE this post! 💛🌻
